Muscle

Within our body we have 3 different types of muscle

Skeletal - the muscles that move our body around

Cardiac - keeps the blood pumping round the body

Smooth - found in the wall of tubes eg gut

Various disease processes can damage these muscles and there are some simple biochemical tests available to investigate this. When a muscle becomes damaged the contents can leak out into the blood and be detected in the blood. We'll have a look at 3 muscle tests which are substances released from muscle when it is damaged.
